Job Description

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a newly formed Construction team within a Global Field Services division. This is a key strategic role offering involvement in both commercial management and project planning across complex engineering and construction projects throughout the EMEA region.

This position will play a critical role in ensuring financial control, commercial protection, and profitability across multiple international projects. The successful candidate will be office-based approximately 70% of the time, with 30% travel across EMEA to support site activities and stakeholder engagement.

The Role

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects, from cost estimation and tendering through to contract administration, cost control, and final account agreement.

You will work closely with project managers, engineering teams, subcontractors, and international stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on budget while maintaining quality and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities for Senior quantity surveyor

Cost Estimation & Budget Control

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates based on drawings, specifications, and site surveys.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, cash flow forecasts, and financial reporting.
  • Provide commercial insight during project planning to maximise value and protect margins.

Tendering & Procurement

  • Prepare and evaluate tender documentation.
  • Support subcontractor selection and contract negotiations.
  • Manage commercial risk and minimise exposure across projects.

Contract Administration

  • Draft, review, and manage construction contracts.
  • Oversee variations, change orders, and claims management.
  • Ensure all scope changes are properly documented and commercially agreed.

Cost Control & Reporting

  • Monitor project expenditure against budget.
  • Produce regular cost reports, forecasts, and commercial updates.
  • Maintain accurate financial and contractual documentation.

Value Engineering

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality.
  • Support engineering teams in delivering commercially efficient solutions.

Site Visits & Risk Management

  • Conduct site visits across EMEA to verify works and support valuations.
  • Assess commercial risk and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and regional regulations.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with senior management and global teams.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to resolve commercial matters.

About You

  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in Quantity Surveying within construction environments.
  • Strong background in cost management and contract administration.
  • Experience managing large-scale commercial, industrial, or engineering projects.
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to protect margin and manage risk.
  • Advanced IT skills (Excel, MS Project, Teams etc.).
  • Experience with Sage 200 or similar ERP systems desirable.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or similar (preferred).
  • Relevant health & safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH) desirable.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Willingness to travel across EMEA as required.
