Job Description
We are looking for a Control Panel Wireman to join a growing industrial controls and automation team. This role is hands-on, focusing on wiring, assembling, and testing industrial control panels. The ideal candidate will have experience working with low-voltage control systems and industrial automation components.
Key Responsibilities for Control Panel Wireman
- Wire and assemble control circuits according to schematics.
- Route, terminate, and crimp cables, including lugs and connectors.
- Connect VFDs, relays, contactors, and PLC terminals.
- Work with PLCs, HMIs, terminal blocks, control transformers, and safety circuits.
- Apply knowledge of electrical panel wiring and LV switchgear principles.
- Assist with panel build, testing, and commissioning preparation.
- Ensure work meets BS 7671 / 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and company quality standards.
Required Skills & Experience for Control Panel Wireman
Essential:
- Experience in industrial control panel wiring and assembly.
- Ability to work from schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical drawings.
- Experience with LV switchgear, VFDs, PLCs, relays, and contactors.
- Understanding of control circuits and safety systems.
- Knowledge of crimping, lugs, cable routing, and terminations.
- Electrical training or apprenticeship preferred (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable:
- Experience with PLC/HMI installation.
- Experience working on industrial automation or instrumentation projects.
- Familiarity with international control panel standards.
