Class 1 Welder / Fabricator / Plater
Location: Lincolnshire
Job Type: Permanent | Full-Time | On-site
Salary: £35,000 to 41,000
We are recruiting for an experienced Class 1 Welder / Fabricator / Plater to join a well-established heavy engineering and manufacturing operation in Leicestershire.
This is a hands-on position working on high-quality engineered products for the oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation and process industries.
The Role
You will be responsible for welding, fabrication and plating work using carbon steel, stainless steel and high-nickel alloys.
Key duties will include:
- TIG & MIG welding to a high standard
- Producing welds suitable for X-ray/radiographic inspection
- Fabricating components from engineering and isometric drawings
- Working to Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
- Fillet, lap, corner and butt welding
- Cutting, drilling, grinding, sawing and material preparation
- Pipe bending and threading
- Fabrication and plating of heavy-engineered components
- Working with both metric and imperial measurements
- Planning fabrication sequences and ensuring work is completed accurately and on time
- Working to strict quality and safety standards
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Class 1 / Coded Welder with a strong fabrication background.
Essential experience:
- Class 1 welding experience
- Strong TIG and MIG welding ability
- Experience producing high-quality welds for X-ray/NDT inspection
- Fabrication and/or plating experience
- Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
- Experience with carbon steel and stainless steel
- Knowledge of WPS and welding procedures
- Background within oil & gas, pressure vessels, pipework, heavy engineering or similar
- Full UK driving licence
- Must live within a commutable distance of Stamford
Experience with high-nickel alloys, ASME IX, ISO welding standards, pressure vessels or process equipment would be particularly advantageous.
Candidates should be comfortable completing a weld test as part of the recruitment process.
