My Client have been providing generator sets and spare parts for customers throughout the UK for over 30 years. They are now looking to employ a service engineer to strengthen their growing team located in the South West. The ideal candidate will understand the needs of the business and the requirement for flexible working hours.

Key responsibilities for the Generator Engineer include;

• Fault finding
• Engine electrical and mechanical problem resolution
• Electrical and mechanical component replacement
• Basic wet and dry engine service
• Control panel modifications and tweaks
• Customer liaison, update and ensure complete customer satisfaction
• Provide call-out cover for generator breakdowns one week in four

To be considered for the role of Generator Engineer you should have;

• Experience with diesel generators up to 2MW in particular engines and alternators including Perkins, Doosan and FG-Wilson 
• Engineering qualifications in a relevant engineering area is a must.
• Experience and good working knowledge of Control system wiring, i.e., Deepsea, Comap controllers
• Electrical and Mechanical Engineering qualification

Requirements:

Duties and Responsibilities for a CHP Engineer:

• To ensure the functioning and availability of gas engines installed in a range of settings to provide energy and power solutions within environments such as hospitals, landfill gas sites, biogas sites, universities, power stations and manufacturing plants.
• To work alone or as part of team to cover sites around the south west region of the UK.
• Carry out scheduled & reactive maintenance to company standards.
• Always ensure liaison with the Service Manager and manage subcontractors.

Skills and Experience for a CHP Engineer:

• NVQ Level 2 in a mechanical discipline
• Ideally you will have first-hand experience working with landfill gas and/or CHP engines and good industry knowledge.
• If not, you will have transferrable skills gained working with diesel and/or marine engines.
• Ideally you will have mechanical and electrical capabilities, but a strong mechanical background is a key requirement.
