Mobile Mechanical Engineer – London & South of England
An established M&E services provider based in Sutton, Surrey is seeking a highly skilled Mobile Mechanical Engineer to join their small, mobile team. The company has been delivering technical M&E service support to the commercial building maintenance sector since 2003, covering London, Greater London and the South of England.
This role is ideal for a motivated Mobile Mechanical Engineer who is comfortable working independently across multiple sites while also supporting a small, skilled team.
Role overview:
The Mobile Mechanical Engineer will carry out general maintenance, reactive services, and corrective works on building plant and mechanical systems. The role requires flexibility, strong fault-finding skills, and the ability to work safely in plant rooms and other technical environments.
Key responsibilities include:

Planned and unplanned maintenance and inspection of mechanical plant in accordance with industry standards such as FSG20

Fault finding and diagnostics on mechanical systems, including pumps, hydraulic and pneumatic systems

Selecting and installing a variety of pipework systems

Reading and interpreting schematic drawings for effective repairs

Assisting other trades and providing support across multi-skilled engineering tasks

Producing accurate job updates, reports, and minor works quotations
Skills and experience required:

Recognised apprenticeship or mechanical engineering qualification (City & Guild, BTEC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)

Proven experience in plant rooms and mechanical systems maintenance

Strong knowledge of pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical principles related to mechanical systems

Experience with PPM systems of work

Full UK driving licence with minimal penalty points

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Flexible and motivated approach with a willingness to develop skills
Package and benefits:

Salary £35,000 to £45,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications

40-hour working week

Due to some clients being government departments, successful applicants must be able to pass Home Office Security Clearance (SC).
